Do As I Say and Make Cocoa Buns

I have a problem (that's not what you should emulate). My problem is that I find these recipes that I want to try, but I don't actually make it for around three months later. I don't know why I have this problem, honestly. I need to make lists.

Cocoa buns from Baking History. I've come back to that blog often, staring at the picture and contemplating over the description. I imagined a bun that was unlike any other, something with a smoky, deep cocoa flavor accented by a hint of cinnamon, the frosting adding an extra subtle sweetness.

That time has come. I made the recipe, and it's about time! Weekend baking is made even more enjoyable if the scent of whatever you're baking lingers in the kitchen.

Yom-yom!

To the flour mixture, I added a tablespoon of vital wheat gluten to aid in texture. When it came time to knead, I gave it a minute's worth of kneading, then I covered it and let it rest for 10 minutes before kneading 10 minutes more. The dough took about 50 minutes for the first rise, then around 45 minutes for the last rise.

  3. I do the same with recipes, I have a looong list of 'must try soon' recipes bookmarked!

These buns look good, they would be great for breakfast. Whenever I make buns they're always different sizes and never perfectly round like yours. Oh well!!

  5. VeggieGirl - I'll say it again -- YOMMY!

    Mary - Please forgive me!

Adam - This'll be the last time for a while. Honestly. =D

Sam - Glad to know it's not just me!

For the sizing, I used to be very OCD ( still am to an extent) and weigh the dough portions out to get exact amounts. Now, though, I can pretty much eyeball it and come out with pieces of the same size.

Stephanie - Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and everything in between!
