Cuppycakes!
My mom made cupcakes yesterday, which I welcomed with an open mouth after running. Spice cupcakes with a simple icing (spice cake is her favorite).
The cakes had a decent spiciness, and the texture was sort of between dense, fluffy, and soft. Dense in that the crumb wasn't quite open, but the feel was fluffy and soft. The icing was a quick buttercream and provided enough moisture and a little burst of extra sweetness to the cupcakes without being overkill.
This was my second cupcake with whipped cream and a raspberry. I also ate another, but plain, which I didn't take a picture of.
Such gorgeously decorated cupcakes!!
ReplyDeleteSpice cupcakes are indeed great. I think it balances out the sweetness very nicely, and I bet it goes really well with the butter cream.
ReplyDeleteYours has a real nice looking crumb and texture. Could you send over a couple? :)
Yummy!
ReplyDeleteI love Marshall's! I found some awesome vanilla crush extract there a few months ago!
VeggieGirl - Thank you! Everything looks cuter with a lone raspberry on top.
ReplyDeleteAdam - I don't particularly care for regular buttercream, but the spices do cut the sweetness a bit.
Ben - I definitely concur. :)
How To Eat A Cupcake - Another trip to Marshall's is in order for me!
I really, truly love the aesthetic here--and I'll bet I'd like the taste too!! Yum. I love spice cake.
ReplyDeleteI love spice cookies so I'm guessing I would love these. They look nice and simple, just how I'd prefer them. I would have totally covered the darn things in the whip cream too.
